Psychological support is often sought when something feels wrong. But understanding how we think, feel and behave can be just as valuable before challenges begin to affect our relationships, education, work or everyday lives.

This is the thinking behind Bloomfield Counselling and Psychology, a Dubai-based practice taking a considered approach to psychological wellbeing through clinical care, psychological assessment and preventative support.

Based in Arjan, Bloomfield works with children, adolescents, adults and families, as well as schools and organisations. Its services range from individual counselling and family therapy to psychological and neurodevelopmental assessments, alongside initiatives designed to strengthen emotional wellbeing and support people in the environments where they live, learn and work.

Led by Clinical Director Katrina Spartalis, whose background spans education, counselling and clinical leadership, Bloomfield brings an understanding of the relationship between individual wellbeing and the wider systems around us. Its approach recognises that emotional and behavioural challenges rarely exist in isolation, and that effective support begins with understanding the person, their circumstances and their individual needs.

Clinical support is tailored to each client, drawing on evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and person-centred therapy. For children and adolescents, this may involve navigating anxiety, emotional regulation, self-esteem, learning difficulties or challenges at school. Adults can access support for concerns including stress, burnout, grief, trauma, depression and major life transitions. Psychological assessments, including those relating to ADHD, autism and learning needs, can also help individuals and families gain greater clarity and understand what support may be appropriate.

Beyond one-to-one care, Bloomfield works with families, schools and organisations to recognise and address the factors that influence wellbeing. Through family support, school consultancy and professional programmes, the centre extends its work beyond the therapy room, with an emphasis on practical strategies that can be applied in everyday life.

For Spartalis, this broader perspective is central to how psychological wellbeing should be approached. Rather than viewing support solely as a response to difficulty, Bloomfield aims to help people develop a deeper understanding of themselves, build practical coping skills and access the right support at the right time.

With its combination of clinical expertise, individualised care and a focus on prevention, Bloomfield is working to make psychological wellbeing a more integral part of how people approach their lives, relationships and personal development.
