The Al Nahda Picklers community held its second ladies tournament on October 10, 2026, bringing together women from different areas to play pickleball and raise awareness about breast cancer.

Held at Sheffield Private School in Dubai and organized in support of Pink October, internationally observed as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the tournament combined friendly competition with a campaign encouraging women to prioritize their health and undergo regular checkups.

“In support of Pink October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Al Nahda Picklers are happy to support this campaign through our 2nd Ladies Tournament,” the community said in a statement.

The group also emphasized the importance of early detection and timely medical attention, reminding participants that it is “better to be early than late” when addressing health concerns.

Beyond raising awareness, the tournament provided an opportunity for women to stay active, build friendships and take time for themselves outside their daily responsibilities.

For Gerlie Saldivar based in Dubai, joining the tournament was an opportunity to break away from her usual routine as a housewife while supporting a cause that affects women worldwide.

“It felt good to be part of something bigger than just playing pickleball. Aside from enjoying the game with everyone, I was happy to support a meaningful cause and help raise awareness about breast cancer,” she said. “It reminded me that sports can bring people together not only for fun and competition, but also to make a difference.”

Saldivar also urged other women, particularly mothers and housewives, to make time for their personal well-being and explore activities beyond their usual routines.

“To all the housewives and moms, remember that taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of your family,” she said.

Through the tournament, the group sought to demonstrate how recreational sports can bring communities together while promoting health awareness, encouraging physical activity and creating opportunities for women to support one another.
