The Concert Lab Launches in Dubai, Bringing Filipino Music and Community Together Through Jireh Lim’s “Magkaibang Mundo” Live Concert
A new chapter in Filipino entertainment in the UAE officially began on August 13 as The Concert Lab (TCL) held its inaugural pre-press conference in Dubai, introducing its mission to bring Filipino artists closer to the Filipino diaspora and create experiences that bring the community together.
During the gathering, The Concert Lab officially announced its first major project: Jireh Lim’s “Magkaibang Mundo” Live Concert, with performances scheduled for October 30, 2026 in Dubai and October 31, 2026 in Abu Dhabi.
The pre-press conference brought together members of the Filipino media and content-creator community, including Sabouni Twins, MilkSheik Pinoy, DJ Kariñosa, Chokie Gray, Elton, Adrian Valencia, Bobbie Carella, Vhie Barcenas, Benjie Geronimo, and Melchor & Hann Ng, alongside members of the organizing team and supporters of the Filipino entertainment community.
A New Platform for Filipino Entertainment
Representing The Concert Lab at the pre-press conference, Al Omaga introduced TCL as more
than a concert organizer—but as a platform built around the Filipino community.
“The Concert Lab was created from a very simple idea: Filipinos may be thousands of miles away from home, but we should still have opportunities to feel connected to it,” said Omaga.
“There is something powerful about hearing a song you grew up with and suddenly finding yourself surrounded by people who know every word. That is the kind of experience we want to create.”
“We want to make it possible for Filipino artists to come here, for Filipinos in the UAE to experience them live, and most importantly, for our community to come together.”
The UAE is home to a large and vibrant Filipino community, with music and entertainment often serving as a bridge between Filipinos living abroad and the culture, memories and experiences they left behind.
The Concert Lab aims to build on that connection by creating concerts and entertainment experiences that are rooted in nostalgia, community and Filipino identity.
Why Jireh Lim?
For its inaugural concert, The Concert Lab chose an artist whose music carries a particularly strong sense of nostalgia for Filipino audiences: Jireh Lim.
Known for emotionally resonant songs about love, heartbreak, relationships and longing, Lim’s music has become part of the soundtrack of a generation of Filipino listeners.
For The Concert Lab, that emotional connection made Lim the natural artist to pioneer its UAE journey.
“When we asked ourselves who should be the first artist we bring to the UAE, we didn’t simply look at who was popular,” Omaga explained.
“We wanted someone whose music already meant something to Filipinos. Someone whose songs could bring back memories—the songs we listened to growing up, the songs we shared with someone we loved, the songs we played during heartbreaks, and the songs that became part of our lives.”
“Jireh Lim represents that kind of nostalgia. We believe his music can bring Filipinos together because these are songs that many of us already know by heart.”
The resulting “Magkaibang Mundo” Live Concert will give Filipino audiences in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi the opportunity to experience Lim’s music live, while creating a shared experience for the wider Filipino community.
Niel Murillo Joins the Celebration
Adding another special Filipino music moment to the evening was Niel Murillo, the first member announced and eventual winner of ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Boyband Superstar, who serenaded guests and media attendees during the pre-press conference. Murillo was subsequently part of the five-member BoybandPH, formed through the competition.
Murillo performed in behalf of Jireh Lim during the launch, giving guests a preview of the live musical experience that The Concert Lab hopes to bring to Filipino audiences in the UAE.
He will also join the upcoming concerts as the front act for both October 30 in Dubai and October 31 in Abu Dhabi.
His appearance adds another layer of Filipino nostalgia to the concerts, connecting audiences with an artist who became part of a landmark Filipino television music competition and the formation of BoybandPH.
A Community Built Around Music
The pre-press conference marks the beginning of The Concert Lab’s journey in the UAE, with the organization positioning itself at the intersection of music, entertainment and community- building.
Rather than simply bringing artists to the UAE, TCL hopes to create occasions where Filipino expatriates can reconnect—with the music they grew up with, with memories from home, and with one another.
“At the end of the day, this isn’t just about putting an artist on a stage,” Omaga said.
“It’s about what happens when the lights go down, the first song starts, and thousands of Filipinos sing the same words together. For us, that is the heart of The Concert Lab.”
“We want to build a community where music becomes a reason for Filipinos to come together.”
The launch also signals TCL’s ambition to establish a continuing platform for Filipino artists and entertainment in the UAE, creating more opportunities for artists from the Philippines to connect with audiences abroad.
