PHLPost Honors Cagayan de Oro’s Legacy with Special Commemorative Stamp

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) unveiled a commemorative postage stamp on June 15 to mark the 75th Charter Anniversary of Cagayan de Oro City, celebrating the city’s rich history, cultural heritage, and remarkable journey as one of Mindanao’s leading centers of growth and development.

Issued as part of the city’s milestone celebration, the commemorative stamp pays tribute to Cagayan de Oro’s enduring contributions to the country’s historical, cultural, and economic landscape. Through this special stamp, PHLPost helps preserve and share the story of the city with audiences across the Philippines and around the world.

The stamp features the historic Executive Building; a prominent landmark built in 1940 on the site of the former Casa Real. Deeply rooted in the city’s history, the structure stands as a symbol of public service, good governance, resilience, and progress through the decades.

Beyond their postal function, commemorative stamps serve as lasting records of people, places, and events that have shaped the nation. Through philately, PHLPost continues to promote Philippine heritage and preserve stories that form part of the country’s collective memory.

The commemorative stamp was designed by Jericho Valjusto “Jake” Vamenta, with layout by Jose Antonio Jayme. The artwork captures the enduring spirit and historical significance of Cagayan de Oro City as it celebrates 75 years of cityhood.
